Investor attention was drawn to both high-flying gainers, particularly in the holding firm and banking sectors, and the more volatile mining and interactive entertainment segments, which faced significant downward pressure.
Leading the day's top performers was BHI Holdings, trading under BH, which saw an extraordinary climb. The stock's last done price soared to ₱980.00, marking a substantial increase of ₱300.00, or a staggering 44.12%. Despite a relatively low volume of 700 shares, the total value traded for BH reached ₱686,000.00, indicating a high-value transaction that caught significant market interest. This sharp ascent suggests strong speculative buying or potential anticipation of a major corporate development.
Following suit was Jackstones, Inc. (JAS), which posted a 19.32% gain, closing at ₱2.10. The stock rose by ₱0.34, with 37,000 shares valued at ₱76,310.00 changing hands. Medco Holdings, Inc. (MED) also enjoyed a robust session, advancing by 18.52% to ₱0.128, an increase of ₱0.02. A substantial volume of 9,060,000 shares was traded, totaling ₱1,152,010.00.
The real estate sector also showed strength, with Philippine Estates Corporation (PHES) climbing 9.46% to ₱0.405, up by ₱0.035 on a volume of 130,000 shares worth ₱52,250.00. In the financial sector, Asia United Bank Corporation (AUB) recorded a healthy 7.58% gain, closing at ₱57.50 with a ₱4.05 increase. A significant 446,520 shares were traded, generating a robust value of ₱25,171,200.00, reflecting positive sentiment in the banking industry, potentially driven by solid economic indicators or upcoming financial results.
Other notable gainers included Ferronoux Holdings, Inc. (FERRO), up 7.51% to ₱4.15 (+₱0.29), with 28,000 shares traded for ₱111,870.00. Both Concreat Holdings Philippines, Inc. (CHP) and Cirtek Holdings Philippines Corporation (TECH) saw their shares rise by 6.30%, with CHP closing at ₱1.35 and TECH at ₱1.35, each adding ₱0.08.
