Trading on the local bourse presented a diverse landscape today, with notable movements among individual stocks. While a handful of companies, particularly those in real estate and diversified holdings, recorded substantial gains, others, including key players in the mining and retail sectors, saw their values dip.
Leading the day's advance was Jolliville Holdings Corporation (JOH), which rocketed by 31.56% to close at ₱3.96. The stock posted a price change of +₱0.95 on a volume of 4,000 shares, valuing total transactions at ₱15,840.00. This significant upward movement, albeit on modest volume, often signals renewed investor interest or speculative plays in smaller-cap issues.
Following closely, A Brown Company, Inc. (BRN) climbed by 19.67%, with its last done price settling at ₱0.73, marking a +₱0.12 increase. The real estate and power developer saw substantial trading activity, exchanging 57,187,000 shares for a total value of ₱37,940,700.00. Speculation surrounding its upcoming projects or energy ventures may have fueled the rally.
Lodestar Investment Holdings Corporation (LODE) also enjoyed a robust session, rising 19.35% to ₱0.37, up by +₱0.06. Its shares, totaling 2,210,000, generated a value of ₱773,450.00.
Other significant gainers included Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation (MB), which gained 16.11% to reach ₱0.21, and Asiabest Group International Inc. (ABG), advancing 10.99% to ₱44.95. The latter, a holding firm with interests in leisure and gaming, saw a considerable value of ₱56,544,400.00 traded across 1,303,200 shares. Lopez Holdings Corporation (LPZ), a diversified conglomerate, also added 8.57% to close at ₱5.70, with transactions amounting to ₱22,610,600.00.
On the other side of the ledger, several companies experienced declines. Roxas and Company, Inc. (RCI) led the losers, dropping 5.62% to ₱2.35, a decrease of -₱0.14. The company, with interests in sugar and real estate, traded 51,000 shares for ₱119,760.00.
Apex Mining Co., Inc. (APX) also faced a downturn, sliding 5.00% to ₱13.30, marking a -₱0.70 change. The mining firm saw a significant volume of 2,269,900 shares exchanged, totaling ₱30,715,900.00 in value, potentially impacted by shifts in commodity prices or global market sentiment.
Lorenzo Shipping Corporation (LSC) continued its choppy trading, shedding 4.55% to close at ₱0.63, down by -₱0.03. COSCO Capital, Inc. (COSCO), a retail-focused holding firm, also declined by 3.45% to ₱8.40, with 424,000 shares traded for a total of ₱3,569,880.00.
SP New Energy Corporation (SPNEC), a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, saw its shares dip by 3.25% to ₱1.49, a -₱0.05 decrease. This movement occurred on a high volume of 14,773,000 shares, generating a substantial value of ₱22,433,100.00, suggesting some investors might be re-evaluating their positions amid project development news or broader sector trends.
Other notable decliners included Abacore Capital Holdings, Inc. (ABA), which fell 3.08% to ₱0.32, and Marcventures Holdings, Inc. (MARC), also down 3.08% to ₱0.63. Digiplus Interactive Corp.
